Becoming A Morning Person

Mornings can be rough. It’s no surprise when your snooze button gets a lot of love especially on a Monday.

Taking control of the first part of the day will set a good tone for how everything else will map out. You’ve heard it before: ‘some of the most successful people in the world are early risers.’  With a few minor adjustments, you can lead the same proactive lifestyle even if you’re not a natural morning person. By practicing the tips below, you can greatly enhance your morning routine. It’s the little rituals that can have a big impact over time, after all!

The Slow Transition.

One of the easiest tricks in the book is setting your alarm just 30 minutes earlier than usual. This way, your body clock doesn’t go into shock with your new early start. The more you do it the earlier your alarm can get and next thing you know, you're up before the birds!

Keep the Curtains & Windows Open

Sunlight triggers an increase in serotonin levels, which can naturally uplift your mood and alertness. An upbeat mood coupled with a breath of fresh air is a great combination for improving your blood pressure and heart rate which in turn also promotes a stronger immune system, and even aids in digestion. Upbeat mood, fab heart rate and stronger immune system? Win.win.win.

Hydration with a twist

Before you eat or drink anything else, drink a full cup of lemon water. The lemon helps to detoxify your liver, boost your immunity, and aid your digestion. Hydrating first thing in the morning helps calm nerves and makes your body feel energised and awake. It can also make for an aesthetically pleasing insta pic!

Shower with Eucalyptus

Awaken your senses by rubbing a few drops of Eucalyptus Essential Oil between your palm and inhale. Alternatively you can add a few drops right onto the bottom of your shower. The heat from the shower water helps vapourise the oil, giving off the feeling and smell of a spa steam room. It’s the easiest and most cost-effective spa experience you’ve ever had!

Make a Nice Breakfast

Legend has it that when you hand a girl good food, she does a happy dance.

After uplifting your mood and getting some fresh air the next step is quite obvious isn’t it? Treat yourself with a hearty breakfast or a super fruit smoothie before you start your hustle. This way you have something to look forward to every morning! It can be tempting to grab a fruit or snack bar on the way out and call it a meal, but your stomach will always know better!

Burn Bakhoor

Right, so you’re halfway through your morning routine. Your mood should already be lifted, your lungs invigorated and you have some good grub in your belly. Ready to take it to the next level? It’s time to burn some bakhoor. Bakhoor calms the body, removes destructive and negative energies, provides enhanced awareness, reduces fear, invokes a feeling of vigor and harmony, and enhances mental functionality.

 Stretch

Like the cat who got the cream, it’s time to give yourself a pat on the back for getting this far and have a nice good stretch. Quick stretches help kickstart circulation and increase the amount of blood and nutrients supplied to your muscles. It’s an incredible way to stimulate your body into go-mode and take on the day with gusto!

Good morning and good day!
